Spirits of Gin Lane

Tuesday 20 Aug - Tue 20 Aug

This date is cancelled. This event is now rescheduled for Friday 13th September at Wollaton Hall itself.

Explore the world of gin production, from its roots in history, to its renaissance as a drink for all tastes. Join gin experts and costumed actors on a gin tasting like no other.

Guests are transported back to 1751 to the sinful Gin Lane, based on William Hogarth's famous etching, and will be guided by none other than Mrs Ginny Stillage, the Georgian gin drinker. As the evening unfolds Mrs Stillage will tell dark tales. Tales of vengeful Tom cats, body snatchers, demonic dogs, and much more. As the summer evening falls, what better place to enjoy this treat than the Gin Yard?

You'll also be joined by a gin expert, who will talk you through the intricacies of gin production and the gins you're sampling. Guests will enjoy tastings of three editions of Yorkshire Gin paired with a premium mixer, garnish and served in a glass skull jug. And enjoy a fabulous ploughman's supper alongside your drinks and entertainment.

Nottingham Industrial Museum has been showing visitors the amazing heritage of Nottingham for many years now. But they've never before shown this scandalous side of the city. Mrs Ginny Stillage and her gin expert will truly bring the museum to life for this spectacular evening event.
