The Elizabethan Willoughbys of Wollaton Hall

Thursday 5 Sep - Thu 5 Sep

When Cassandra Willoughby compiled volume one of her "Account of the Willoughby Family", she copied personal letters and household accounts, sometimes adding her own views. Her focus was especially trained on the women in the family.

This talk, by Professor Jo Ann Moran Cruz of Georgetown University, who has introduced and edited this first volume, will look at Cassandra's role as transcriber and what she has to tell us about Elizabeth Willoughby (d. 1595), her six daughters and her estranged sister-in-law Margaret Arundel.
